#day291 – lodging in the Amazon

I’m deep in the jungle now. After we arrived in the jungle town Lago Agrio, we had another three hours ride by car and boat to get to our lodge. The lodge called Pink Dolphin Lodge is directly at the river located and really deep in the forest, just a handful of lodges around and that’s it.

I love to live a bit isolated like that for a couple of days. No internet, power works just a few hours per day and the shower is more or less dripping water. That’s what I have to deal with the next four days. Not a problem at all. It’s part of the experience. And our lodge is actually pretty cozy. Bamboo huts with bamboo beds and hammocks in the common area.

The first day of our tour couldn’t start better. Just by boating along the river we spotted a big brown snake, little monkeys in tree crowns and tatataaa pink dolphins. Two hours in the jungle and they already showed up close to the pier of our lodge. Amazing. Even though you can’t see much of their body, it’s mainly the fin. But the imagination that they’re swimming underneath us is impressive. Tomorrow I want to see parrots, caimans and a sloth. At least.
