My hometown has a new attraction. They call it Saalfeld’s ice magic. An ice rink on the middle of our marketplace in combination with the Christmas market. Pretty cool. I love ice skating and was looking forward to dance on homeland ice since I heard of it. After a busy family weekend we declared Mondayfunday as a suitable day.
The daylight was gone, the lights from the Christmas market shined brightly and with a view to our townhall and the beautiful church it was one of the best settings I ever had so far. Ok, last year I had been to an ice rink on a rooftop in Berlin with overlooking the Gedächtniskirche and Kurfürstendamm. Wasn’t bad, as well. But Saalfeld has a hometown bonus of course.
In case you don’t expect an ice rink in a good condition and you’re not stressed by dozens of kids, cruising around with learning aids in penguin shape, it’s a funny adventure. And shortly before Sandmann you’ll be all by yourself on the ice. Best time for practicing to become a new Gunda Niemann-Stirnemann, one of Thuringia’s most successfull ice-skater. I prefer playing ice princess when noone is watching.
Besides I heard there’s an ice disco every Friday. I’ll check it out and let you know.
